Skincare Review: Thayers Natural Witch Hazel Toners

Thayers Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Formula Toner

I’ve heard so much about this toner but it’s only now that I got to try them. The Witch Hazel they use is from the stream banks from Nova Scotia east to Minnesota and south to Georgia. Its natural astringent tannins promise to reduce inflammation and stem bleeding.

The Rose Petal Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Formula Toner ($10.95) is made of rose-petal water and our proprietary Witch Hazel extract to help restore dehydrated skin, tighten pores, control oil production, lock moisture in, and keep free radicals out. With the rosy smell that permeates my nose every time I spray this on my face, I thought for sure the toner itself will feel heavy. This, however, is one of the lightest rose toners I’ve tried. I like using this in the mornings and even mist this on my makeup brushes.

The Alcohol-Free Coconut Water Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Formula Toner ($10.95) is formulated with hydrating, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial coconut water. I never liked the smell of coconuts but thankfully, the smell of this one doesn’t linger. It feels more moisturizing than the other variants so I like using this at night.

The Lavender Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Formula Toner (travel size: $3.99) claims to revitalize, cleanse, help manage acne, calm sensitive skin, and reduce redness and irritation. I bring this travel-sized version with me to the office and use it after cleansing. It soothes my skin so I use this whenever I have to stay outdoors for too long.

Overall, these toners feel really relaxing on the skin. The only difficulty with this is that the mist can easily sting my eyes. Aside from that one bit, however, I like how these helped hydrate my skin. They have also kept my skin clear of blemishes. They helped with the redness and the oiliness of my skin as well. I never once experienced a breakout while using this. I rarely say something would work for all skin types but I feel like this really would.
