Cult Favorite: Verb Ghost Oil

Happy to announce that after a few months of testing some products from Verb, I am now a part of #verbfriends! As an affiliate, you can shop at my link and I get a small percentage. If it’s your first purchase at verb, you can get 16% off. I rarely join affiliate programs but I’ve had such a good experience with Verb products that’s why I decided to work with them.

I’m going to be sharing my experience on some of their products and I’m here to start with the Ghost Oil. This hair oil promises to be a vanishing daily restorative oil that revitalizes hair from roots to ends leaving all hair types smooth and shiny. It contains bamboo extract to strengthen the hair follicle and retain moisture, hydrolyzed soy protein to lock in moisture, and moringa seed oil to moisturize, detangle, and smooth the hair. This product is also paraben-free, gluten-free, and cruelty-free.

As you know, my hair is much more sensitive than my face and introducing new products is always an icy territory. My hair is very frank, you’ll know it a few hours if she hates you or she loves you. My hair apparently loves the Ghost Oil.

The gel texture melts into a thin viscous oil that sinks into my strands almost as soon as they touch. It feels lightweight and almost disappears into the strands of my hair, acting as a fast absorbing serum. There is no heavy or sticky feeling when I apply this, making it easy to apply and reapply. No rinsing and wiping needed. It also doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it too frizzy. It doesn’t make my scalp feel too tight or too oily. It’s just right. It seems so easy but trust me, my hair reacts faster than my skin. It just leaves my hair looking healthy and feeling soft. I use this every day before I use my styling products for smoother and easier styling or if I wear my hair down as this helps keep the frizz at bay.

I honestly feel like for the cost, this gives so much more for my hair.

Skincare Review: Haruharu Wonder Starter Kit and Honey Green Aqua Bomb Cream

Meaning every day in Korean, Haruharu uses natural and fermented formulas to help the skin. Their Wonder line uses patented natural liposome technology to deliver active ingredients to the skin.

They sent the Wonder Starter Kit, which contains 4 different sheetmasks to target a variety of concerns. They all use pure cotton sheets without non chlorine-bleaching process. The Maqui Berry Anti-Oxidant Mask to protect the skin with maqui berry and capsicum annuum fruit extract. The Honey Green Aqua Bomb Mask uses fermented green tea with honey and momordica charantia fruit, leaf ferment extract to repair and moisturize. Using fermented green tea with honey and schizandra chinensis fruit extract, the Honey Green Repairative Mask to prevent skin trouble. To brighten, the Honey Green Brilliant Mask using fermented green tea with honey, peach flower extract, and nelumbium speciosum flower extract.

What made these masks different from what I’ve used is the material used for the mask. It is a cloth, not a paper-like material, making it feel so luxurious. With that, it sat on my face perfectly, reached every corner of my face. Since its a cloth, I didn’t have to worry that it will slip. They all have a relaxing sensation and it leaves my skin plump and soft. I enjoyed using the Maqui Berry Anti-Oxidant Mask because it feels so nourishing while the Honey Green Repairative Mask felt so good after a long day.

They also sent me the Wonder Honey Green Aqua Bomb Cream, which contains fermented green tea with honey for its anti-inflammatory effect and hyaluronic acid to moisturize and hydrate. This smells sweet and as expected, the gel texture has a cooling sensation. It also feels so hydrating on the skin. It didn’t aggravate the oiliness of my skin and it felt so lightweight. However, I feel like this is similar to another moisturizer, which I love. What sets this apart though is the anti-inflammatory benefit that helped soothe my skin whenever it acts up. I also especially like the packaging, which is similar to a latte cup and can be used as a container for brushes or as a planter.

It is a joy to try these products as it feels so high-quality and effective. Their sheetmask offered immediate results and even left my skin soft and smooth after a day of use. The Honey Green Aqua Bomb Cream might not have reached HG status for me but it’s the moisturizer I go for when I know my skin is about to act up.

Skincare Review: Pixi Beauty Peel & Polish, Glow Mud Mask, T-Zone Peel-Off Mask, GLOW Glycolic Boost, DetoxifEYE

Pixi just came through and sent over almost every kind of mask there is.

First up is the Peel & Polish ($24), a fruity exfoliator treatment that can be used 2 to 3 times a week. It’s easy to put on – apply the product and wash it off after 2 minutes. The result is baby smooth skin, that isn’t dry or flaky. Scrubs are not a favorite but this feels gentle enough for my skin.

An exfoliator making a comeback in my routine is the Glow Mud Mask ($22). This is their signature 15-minute facial, boasting cleansing and purifying effects. When using it, my skin does feel as if all of the dirt and grime from the past day had been washed right off. It just works so well with my #oilyskin and detoxifies and exfoliates my skin thoroughly.

The T-Zone Peel-Off Mask ($22) purifies pores with avocado and green tea. This peel-off mask almost like a pore strip but gentler. However, this is not my preferred way of cleansing my pores.

To nourish the skin, there’s GLOW Glycolic Boost ($10) sheetmask. Glow is an appropriate name for this product since it does exactly that to my face. My skin doesn’t only feel hydrated afterward but has a supple texture, both of which lend to my face looking more youthful. Because of that, this mask is perfect for winding down after a long day.

A favorite out of the bunch is the DetoxifEYE ($24) to depuff, nourish, and revive the under eyes with hyaluronic acid, caffeine, cucumber, and gold.

I have been using this eye mask almost every night since I got it because it just treats my dry under eyes so good. It hydrates and nourishes my eye area, making my face look healthier and more awake in the mornings.

All in all, Pixi’s exfoliating and nourishing masks are a great fit for many of us who want extra care in my skincare. For oily skin, you can’t go wrong with the Glow Mud Mask and those who have dry under eyes would have a field day with DetoxifEYE.

Skincare Review: Lalu Essentials Face Detox and Ju-C and E Complex

Lalu Essentials weren’t in my radar until I saw them on Instagram. Aside from the cute name and the cute packaging, seeing a product like “Face Detox” immediately caught my attention.

Hailing from Long Beach, California, Lalu Essentials offers cruelty-free products that aim to provide simple and healthy skincare

An antioxidants serum, the Face Detox ($49.99) contains 18 antioxidants to defend the skin from free radicals. It also aims to soften, smooth, and hydrate the skin, reduces redness, and increases hydration and radiance. It also does not contain fragrance, essential oils, colorants, or parabens. The serum smells like candy and the orange color is so fun to look at. It has a watery texture but applies like milk on the skin. Amazingly enough, this doesn’t feel slick or oily despite some oils being high up on the ingredient list. It leaves the skin with a velvet texture making it great in the mornings before applying SPF and makeup. It doesn’t aggravate the oiliness of the skin and instead leaves it smooth and soft.

The Ju-C&E Complex ($55.99) uses three stabilized forms of Vitamin C and three forms of Vitamin E to help repair sun damage within weeks, reduce and prevent blackheads and clogged pores, and diminish fine lines and wrinkles. This has a has a subtle citrus scent and has the texture and consistency of a light moisturizer and leaves a thin creamy feeling on the skin. It doesn’t sink in as quickly as the Face Detox. Leaves a thin, silky film on the skin so I like using this at night, followed by a sleeping mask. I will wake up with soft and glowing skin afterwards.

Using these two as part of my morning and evening skincare routines, I have noticed how they both helped in maintaining a blemish-free complexion. A favorite, though, is Face Detox. I just love how this applies on my skin. It has helped soften and brighten my skin. Nevertheless, my skin just loves the formulation used in both these water-based products, it just drunk everything in and left me with clear and soft skin.

Skincare Review: Dr. Loretta Micro Peel Peptide Pads and Tightening Eye Gel

Emphasizing their aim to protect the skin from external factors responsible for skin, Dr. Loretta describes products with how they protect the skin. External factors like pollution, light, climate, and irritants are what the brand focuses on and the formulas of their products contain vitamin c, algae peptides, and essential oils.

Targeting to protect the skin from pollution and climate, the Micro Peel Peptide Pads ($60) promises to exfoliate the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores, improve skin texture, and replenish moisture with 10% glycolic acid, algae peptides, and botanicals of matte, kola, and guarana.

Compared to the peeling pads I’ve tried, this has a thinner pad soaked in essence. It tingles a bit once applied on the skin. The first time I used this, I got some redness on my cheeks. It still tingles even on the next uses because of the high percentage of glycolic acid. The pads have enough coarseness to exfoliate the skin as much as a mask would without going overboard and feeling like a coarse face scrub. It’s just right in the middle. I like to do this during the weekend and in the middle of the week to refresh my skin. It has immensely helped with the texture and radiance of my skin.

The Tightening Eye Gel ($60) contains lipochroman to protect the skin from pollution including oxygen, nitrogen, carbon free radical damage, and tiny particles of urban dust. It also has chromabright to fade uneven pigment, marine water microalga to replenishes hydration, algae extract to support the skin’s collagen, and peptides to tighten the eye area.

This has a lightweight gel-like texture that melts into the skin. Despite its watery texture, it doesn’t sink in too quickly, just slow enough to allow me to massage the gel around my eyes. I like that it has a slight cooling and tingling sensation and that it hydrates my dry under eyes. It tightens a bit around the eye area but for me, it’s not that noticeable as I do not have sagging skin around this area. What I really noticed though is how it improved the hydration around my eyes so, my makeup doesn’t gather around the deep lines under them.
