Skincare Review: Dermalogica Phyto-Nature Firming Serum and Antioxidant Hydramist

These cold days give me the opportunity to really go in with the thicker serums in my stash. One of the things I’ve recently been using is the Phyto-Nature Firming Serum (£130) from Dermalogica. With my quest to incorporate more firming and tightening in my routine, this just fits right in.

This serum promises to reduce the appearance of premature skin aging while firming, protecting, and revitalizing it using sapphire-bound biomimetic peptides, Amazonian Camu Camu, hyaluronic acid, Moroccan rockrose extract, and Madagascar green coffee bean.

It has a dense gel consistency that spreads easily and sinks in fairly quickly, which impressed me. Given the consistency, I thought it would be thick and it would sit on top of the skin. It has sort of a slip to it, giving the firming feel to the skin and it plays well with the other products I use in the evening. It instantly tightens and firms. What I really like about this is that it also hydrates my skin, leaving it plump and smooth in the morning instead of oily. This also goes well with the gua sha it came with for extra relaxation and firming. I will continue to use this and see more results aside from its hydrating, plumping, and firming benefits.

They also sent the Antioxidant Hydramist (£40), which I use every morning as a toner and a hydrator while applying makeup. It aims to firm, hydrate, protect, and refresh the skin with pea, rose, and clove extracts. It’s hydrating and it sinks in quickly. It does what a hydrating mist would do so the price is not justified for me. It has a fine mist, though, so I can easily use it without messing my makeup.
