Makeup Review: By Terry Starlight Rose Collection

I did not include the Starlight Rose Glow Booster CC Serum from By Terry in my 2019 makeup favorites because I got to try it so late into the year. However, I have been using it since 2020 started to give my fave a subtle yet healthy glow.

This primer brightens while hydrating the skin using rosehip butter, moonstone extract, and gemstone pearls. It looks creamy from the bottle but it applies lightly to the skin, providing a thin almost unnoticeable canvas before the foundation.

For my oily skin, I apply a mattifying primer before putting six little dots of this all over my face. I then buff this with my stick foundation. It brightens my skin and doesn’t leave too matte. It just makes me look like I had eight hours of sleep like I only eat fruits and vegetables. That’s how healthy this makes me look. If I want a little bit more glow, I also put this on the high points of my face and my lids after applying foundation.

To really up the ante, I use the Starlight Rose CC Powder on my lids and on my cheekbones. This illuminating powder has that provides a lot of shimmers. This is not for the faint of heart, not for those with a lot of texture either. I have on my cheeks so I really have to be careful when applying this. However, if I’m looking for impact, this is what I really go for.

For a big day, I use the Starlight Rose Baume de Rose Flaconnette Liquid Lip Balm before applying my makeup.

It contains rose blossom essential wax, shea butter, vitamin e, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid microspheres to combat dryness and strengthen, protect, and hydrate the lips. I have been using this before applying matte lipsticks to protect my lips and keep it from drying.

Glossier stretch concealer – this is what I always use when I don’t want to put foundation on and just want some really light coverage

Onomie radical setting mist – I like spraying this on my brush before applying foundation. This just makes everything look better

Trestique highlight and perfect multipurpose stick – the subtle glow it gives is my favorite. It’s also so easy to blend.

Ilia Beauty the necessary eyeshadow palette, cool nude – this is my everyday palette. it doesn’t contain the usual neutrals which I really like but it still works in any setting.

Em Cosmetics fine liner brow pencil-thin, sturdy, and pigmented. Everything I need in a brow pencil

Lilah B glisten and glow skin illuminator – the shade b. captivating just gives my skin a healthy glow. I also like using this on my lids for a creamy-looking shimmer

Benefit Cosmetics they’re real mascara – forever and always

Pat McGrath Labs matte trance, flesh 3 – the most pigmented and longest wearing matte lipstick I’ve tried that doesn’t cake or settle between the lines. Flesh 3 is my go-to when going out

Makeup Review: By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Primer, Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder, and Tool-Expert Dual-Ended Brush

My hydration kick doesn’t only cover skincare, I have also crossed over to makeup. By Terry sent over their two hyaluronic based products, the Hyaluronic Hydra-Primer and Hydra-Powder, which promise to boost and maintain optimum moisture level of the skin for a firmer and plumper complexion.

The Hyaluronic Hydra-Primer looks like a mousse and feels creamy but it dries so fast without any tacky feeling so, instant like. It provides a bit of blurring and feels hydrating even though it sort of sinks into the skin. It blurs my pores a bit and subsides some redness making my skin look more even. This #faceprimer feels nourishing as well and makeup applies beautifully on top of it. Even if it doesn’t mattify my #oilyskin enough, it doesn’t aggravate its oiliness either. I like using this when I feel like going for a soft and dewy everyday look. It makes matte foundation have a semi-matte finish and compliments satin and dewy finish foundation by making my skin look smooth and plump.

Even though I have oily skin, I was never used to applying a setting powder. I only use them when I know I need to keep my makeup looking fresh longer than usual. The Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder I have is white but doesn’t leave a white cast because it is so finely milled that it just sorts of sinks into the skin. It blurs my pores and leaves the skin looking smooth. It sets the makeup and controls shine for about half a day before I have to blot or reapply.

They also sent the Tool-Expert Dual-Ended Brush that feels oh so soft to the skin. The brush strands feel soft and thin, which makes it easy to apply both products.

I really enjoy using these two for every day because they help hydrate my skin and feels so nourishing. I may need more help in terms of mattifying my skin but this two help in making my skin look soft, smooth, and even.
