Cult Favorite: Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion

I remember buying my first Perfecting Cushion from Sulwhasoo 4 years ago while I was in the Incheon airport waiting for my flight back home. It’s what I bring to work because it’s compact and it’s liquid, which I prefer overpower foundation when it comes to retouching. So, naturally, seeing the Limited Edition Spring Cushion Compact with its beautiful embroidery is really just an added bonus. I mean, look at how pretty and old school it is. I also love the fact that the embroidery has a cushion underneath as well.

Makeup Review: Yulip Beauty Lipsticks

When it comes to makeup, k-beauty brands are where I get the ‘my lips but better’ lip colors that are natural-looking and not drying. So, when I saw the am11 shade from Yulip, I know I wanted to try it.

Yulip was created when the founder was pregnant and was looking for a lip color that is made with natural ingredients. Their lipsticks are cruelty-free and are toxin-free, paraben-free, lead-free, gluten-free, chemical-free, and non-GMO. Instead, they are made of food-grade plant-based oils, organic beeswax, and shea butter to provide anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and soothing benefits.

These lipsticks feel creamy on the lips but it looks semi-matte. It can emphasize the lines on your lips so be wary if you have a lot. It does feel thicker than most lipsticks but I didn’t really mind because it stayed on longer than most as well. This isn’t one of those tints that compliment the color of your lips. This applies and covers as liquid lipstick would do without the dryness.

Iconic, a light pink beige with a peachy undertone, applies the exact color of the bullet. It takes about two solid swipes to completely cover my lips. I like how this brightens my face instead of making me look sick. Even without the dark eyes or bright cheeks, this works for my skin. AM11 is a burnt orange, deep coral color. It’s an everyday lip that looks bold enough if you want some color but not too much that it’s distracting. Angry Rose, a brick red, dried rose color with pink undertone, is good to use at night to deepen the look or in the morning if you want to be a bit bold.

Makeup Review: Dear Dahlia Lip Paradise Intense Satin and Paradise Dream Velvet Lip Mousse

My everyday makeup is pretty straightforward so I only get to have fun with my lip color. K-Beauty brand Dear Dahlia sent over some of their lipsticks and I was honestly excited because I have never tried a K-Beauty lip product that’s vegan, cruelty-free, and are made without sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates, or synthetic fragrances and colors.

I have the Lip Paradise Intense Satin ($34) in the shades Ruby, a red with blue undertones, and Megan, a muted rose shade.

The lipstick promises to condition and nourish the lips with dahlia variabilis extract, rice bran wax in a pigmented formula.

They are not kidding when they say this is intense. The pigmentation, as expected from a korean brand, is as advertised. It feels creamy, soft, and light on the lips and the color lasts for about six hours, bar eating. It has a satin finish but, for me, it’s more of a semi-matte, which I prefer. It doesn’t gather on the lines of my lips and doesn’t cake because it applies thin. I use Megan for every day and Ruby is for when I want something more intense or when I want a bright blurred lip color.

The Paradise Dream Velvet Lip Mousse ($31), on the other hand, is a lip mousse that is also infused with dahlia extract for moisture. I have the shade Seduction, which is a classic red shade, and it has a little more sheen than Lip Paradise Intense Satin. If I’m going for impact, I put this on top of Ruby. Used alone, this looks a bit playful and is suitable at night.

I’m really happy with these lip colors as they feel luxurious. They also do not dry my lips even if worn and reapplied the whole day. I tried them without using a balm and they still feel moisturizing. These are one of the highest-quality vegan lipsticks I’ve tried.

Brand Overview: Peripera

#peripera, the cute little sister of Clio, launched in @cvspharmacy last June and these are some of the products available.

The Milk Blur Pang Primers (I have the one in Banana Milk) moisturizes the skin with VITA COMPLEX10 (Vitamin B5, B7, B9, C, E, A, B1, B2, B3, and B4) and leaves a velvet finish. It blurs and smoothens areas with texture. It leaves a bit of a white cast so this would be best suited for fair skin tones. Because of the thick, creamy texture, this feels more like a moisturizer than a primer. What I liked most was that I thought it’s not going to work with my oily skin but it did. I still have an oily t-zone at the end of the day but it’s better than usual. I don’t look shiny at all and this didn’t make my makeup move.

The Oil Capture Pact is a powder in a cute little compact that blots the shine on your face and makes it look matte and soft. This helps mattify the skin but best suited to those who have fair skin as the powder applies a bit white.

The Ink Cara create a full eye look by lengthening the eyelashes. It has a curved brush to grab every single lash from corner to corner. The color of the mascara is exactly like its packaging. It’s auburn so I had to add a black mascara on top to tame it a bit. The curl of my lashes lasts all day whenever I use this. It clumps a bit but not spider eye levels, just enough to make the lashes defined and thick.

Peripera Ink Velvet Lip Tint is a long-lasting lip color that won’t leave your lips feeling heavy or sticky. I actually have this before and they are not kidding with the long-lasting part. It really lasts even after drinks. The formula was weird at first, a liquid that feels gel-like after some time. The color looks exactly the same from the applicator as well.

The Cushion Pang Lip Tint provides the lips with a glossy finish while nourishing them. This doesn’t feel sticky or heavy at all, something that for me set #kbeauty lip products apart from the others. It is not long lasting but because of the cushion applicator, it’s fun to touch-up. It applies milky but doesn’t feel creamy. It almost feels like a light balm. It looks bright pink on the cushion but appears light on my lips. The cushion makes it’s easy to apply, even in the corners.
