Brand Overview Cardea AuSet

I have never heard of Cardea AuSet until I saw them on Instagram. I was initially intrigued by the packaging, which, of course, made me research it.

All products from Cardea AuSet uses pure essential oils, hydrosols, minerals, and plant-based ingredients that are GMO-free. Their materials are sourced from Canadian suppliers. So far, so good. I was excited to review their products and thankfully, they lived up to the hype I built up around them.

The first one I tried was the Noire Charcoal Mask. Composed of bentonite clay and pure activated charcoal powder, this face mask has absorbing properties that extract toxins from the skin’s surface and pores, leaving it cleansed and purified. Since it’s packaged is as a powder, it can be mixed with any liquid or oil you prefer.

Of course, the downside is that it can get a bit messy. Clumsy me + black powder in a white bathroom = total mess. On the bright side, I’ve tried a few powder masks and this is one of the smoothest. One of the gentlest black charcoal masks I’ve tried. I only had a slight tightening in my cheek and chin areas while it tried. After application, my skin felt stripped yet moisturized. However, you really have to rinse this thoroughly because the first time I used this, I had to cleanse my skin twice as I got remnants of black powder in my cotton pad after I applied my toner.

The Sea Mineral Soak has been getting a lot of use during selfcare weekend. After a busy week, a good source of relaxation is a long bath with this one. After a bath, my skin feels hydrated, soothed, and relaxed.

This detoxifying soak is a blend of salts from the Dead Sea and Himalayas and dried rose petals. This contains minerals like magnesium, calcium, sulfur, selenium, and potassium to soothe tired muscles, stimulate circulation, promote healing and hydration, and relieve anxiety.

Now, I’ve had my fair share of experiences with facial mists to determine the effectivity of each product. Even though I’ve encountered a lot of rose mists in my short dive to skincare, I can’t help but try every single one of them.

The Rosa Facial Mist is a hydrating mist formulated with rose water and aloe juice that claims to give the skin a refreshing, plumping boost.

First off, the packaging is divine. I like looking at it on my vanity table. It has a bright yellow color that always seems to call me. It also contains a lot of products, 236ml to be exact. I have been using this for about a month and I haven’t even reached half the bottle. As the name suggests, this smells of roses. Not powerful enough to overpower my perfume, but enough to wake my senses up. The smell doesn’t last that long but since I’m not using this as a fragrance, I didn’t mind it. It lets off a very fine mist so it can be used in the middle of the skincare routine or during the day and it won’t mess up your makeup.

As a toner, this can keep my face hydrated for about 3 hours, which, I’m being honest, isn’t enough for my dehydrated skin. Hence, I use this before and after putting my serums and as the last step of my routine. However, I like using this best with my makeup sponge. I spray this directly on the sponge before I dab it on my foundation. Interestingly enough, I find that this helps blend my base products easily and seamlessly. It also helps my foundation and concealer last the whole day and creates a dewy look. The makeup just adheres to my skin better whenever I use this, maybe because of the aloe juice. Whenever I do a light makeup, I also use this to set it as I’m sure that this will make me look awake, healthy, and natural.

Brand Overview: My Mood

I’m a sucker for cute packaging. That’s how I came across My Mood. Founded by Thea Green, the brains behind Nails Inc and Incredible Cosmetics, My Mood is the adorable little sister filled with cute things you take to sleep, to bed, and to school.

They offer bath bolts – the Muscle Hustler Bath Bolt to chill with sage, rosemary, and seaweed and the Get Up Show Up Bath Bolt to wake up with scents of cardamom, black pepper, and sandalwood. For those running low on mental and physical health come Friday, the I’m Like 104% Tired Just Chill Bath Bolt is a good treat to relax, containing lavender and orange peel.

To top that off, the I’m Like 104% Tired Switch Off Sleep Spray can be a nightstand buddy. It’s a gentle, calming essential oil spray that mixes lavender, poppyseed, and valerian to fight away nervous vibes and alleviate tension, to help you relax. Just spray on some of the oil before bedtime, to get the full effect. My first impression was that it smelled like massage oil, which was perfect for relaxing after a busy day. The sweet lavender scent was nice, but it didn’t last too long. The light scent of the spray was too light to leave a lasting effect and seemed to fade away after a few minutes. Maybe those with a preference for softer fragrance notes would enjoy this, but those who want a stronger scent may find it too mild to be effective.

For the lips, the Smoothing On Jelly Lip Balm I’m Shook PH Pink feels moisturizing and hydrating on the lips. It has pinkish tint that looks so natural.

The Smoothing On Jelly Lip Balm I Eat Rainbows For Breakfast Glittery Pink has a pinkish-red tint when applied on the lips.

The Smile Everyday Smoothing Lip Balm Hustle On Iridescent, on the other hand, smells like candy and offer a light sheen to the lips.

I like putting this on top of matte lip colors to add some shine. I love that they all don’t feel heavy on the lips but I wish they were more moisturizing.

Bodycare Review: Sunday Rain Himalayan Salt Massage Ball, Acai Berry Bath Crystals, Acai Berry Bubble Bath, Acai Body Scrub, and Watermelon Exfoliating Cubes

Textures that keep the skin soft and glowing. These vegan and cruelty-free products from Sunday Rain promises soothe and rejuvenate you while taking care of your skin.

I’m a fan of quick baths especially on weekdays, but I really take my time on the weekends. I first used the Himalayan Salt Massage Ball to massage my body, especially my legs and neck. This is my first time using something like this and I am amazed as to how relaxed and calm it made me feel.

I then mix the Acai Berry Bath Crystals and the Acai Berry Bubble Bath to relax. Both may smell a bit sweet for some but the scent is relaxing for me. The bubble bath also feels creamy on the skin so I’m always soothed and smooth afterward.

To soften the skin, I use the Acai Body Scrub or the Watermelon Exfoliating Cubes. The body scrub is what I like to use on my knees and heels to soften and leave my skin feeling like silk. The exfoliating cubes contain shea butter, almond seed oil, and sunflower oil and it leaves my skin soft and moisturized. I like that they don’t feel too rough on the skin and the pink color made me smile.

I really liked how these products help my selfcare routine. These fruity scents might not be what I usually prefer but I enjoy how subtle their scents are, a complete contrast to the results it provided.

Skincare Review: Plant Apothecary

Wanting to promote healthy ingredients, environmental friendliness, and social responsibility, couple Holly McWhorter and Bjarke Ballisager created Plant Apothecary, an overall wellness brand aimed to moisturize, purify, de-stress, exfoliate any skin. Their uses aromatherapy and herbalism to create plant-based products that are vegan, cruelty-free and are made without gluten, GMO, petroleum, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and silicones.

The Re:Fresh Organic Toning Face Mist ($12) promises to hydrate and nourish the skin using cucumber, rosewater, and aloe vera. It felt a little heavy on my face but it smells great. It always feels hydrating and nourishing to the skin. I use it in the morning as a toner before applying makeup.

Providing antioxidants while purifying the skin, the Matcha Organic Antioxidant Face Mask ($24) uses white clay, fair trade matcha tea, and chamomile flower oil. Smelling like matcha, it instantly relaxes me. It leaves the skin feeling plump and smooth without stripping and overly drying my skin.

The Be Well Body Wash ($18) contains coconut oil soap, olive oil soap, jojoba oil soap, glycerin, and guar. First off, this smells so good. The texture feels like honey slowly being poured to your skin and it leaves my body feeling cleansed and soft.

For relaxing, the Super Soak ($32) has sea salt, organic mustard, organic eucalyptus essential oil to increase circulation, help wash away painful lactic acid buildup in your muscles, and provide gentle pain relief. I enjoyed every bath with this as it helps calm and relax me. It’s good for days when you’re feeling under the weather.

I really enjoyed using Plant Apothecary products. Aside from smelling great, all their product claims are true. Also, the price is amazing, honestly.
